CLINCH ALLOWANCE - The term "clinch allowance" is applied to that part of a rivet which extends beyond the material thickness of the assembly before the rivet has been set.

To determine rivet length (measured under the head), add clinch allowance value (shown below in shank diameter column) to thickness (compressed) of parts to be riveted. Round off decimal results to next LOWEST fraction equivalent. For rivet diameters approximately .156" or smaller, go to nearest 1/64". For larger diameter rivets, go to nearest 1/32".
